Fujitsu Personal Systems Hosts First “Working Mobility” Expo
SANTA CLARA, Calif. — November 24, 1997 — Fujitsu Personal Systems, Inc. (FPSI) hosted its first-ever "Working Mobility" Expo last month in Chicago.
Focused on the development and promotion of cross-selling relationships, the Expo attracted 38 exhibitors and over 150 pen tablet VARs, independent software vendors (ISVs) and complementary vendors from across the U.S. and Canada. These FPSI partners use Fujitsu's pen tablets to provide significant business process improvements in industries such as healthcare, insurance, and sales force automation, where workers are often required to perform specific job functions while standing or walking.
The "Working Mobility" Expo was created to bring together FPSI VARs and serve as a catalyst to broaden and accelerate the integration of their pen tablet solutions through partnerships with ISVs, peripheral support vendors and each other. Participants were able to see new products and services, share experiences and discuss ideas for expanded implementation of Windows" pen tablet applications and products in large corporations and government institutions.
"I'm grateful to Fujitsu for bringing these vendors together, not as competitors, but as partners who can expand the range of offerings," commented Pat Small, director of business alliances at KPMG International, an FPSI VAR. "I uncovered several software vendors who are already working with some of our clients, which immediately reinforced pen tablets' fit in our target markets. The Expo gave all of us more reasons to include Fujitsu platforms in our client solutions."
Dick Read, president of RTW, an FPSI MasterVAR, stated, "The 'Working Mobility' Expo was a wonderful, rewarding experience with interesting VAR application software, peripheral support vendors and Fujitsu education all in one place."
"As the Windows pen tablet leader, we recognized the time was right to bring our sales and support people together with VARs, ISVs and complementary vendors so that everyone had the opportunity to discover new synergies in this fast-growing market," commented Bill Clevenger, director of field and channel marketing for FPSI. "And, based on the overwhelming success of this year's event, we will make this Expo an annual affair."
