Actioneer, Inc. Announces Actioneer for Palm Desktop

NEW YORK — June 16, 1998 — Actioneer Inc. announced today Actioneer(tm) for Microsoft Outlook(R) 1.1, Actioneer for Palm Desktop, and Actioneer for Palm Computing(R) Platform 1.1. The Actioneer family of personal productivity tools is the easiest way to capture and manage information with today's most popular organizers, such as Microsoft Outlook(R), the Palm(R) Computing Platform, and later this year, Lotus Notes(R). The company is demonstrating Actioneer at PC Expo in the Palm Developers Pavilion, booth No. 3962 and the Microsoft Partners Pavilion, booth No. 2646.

Actioneer incorporates patent-pending technology that allows users to save time and energy in managing their action items. Actioneer's intelligent interface is a pop-up window called an action note, where users enter text to capture action items — e-mail, appointments, ideas, etc. Instantly available at the click of a mouse or via a button on the Palm connected organizer, Actioneer allows users to enter action items as they occur, without having to open and navigate through a specific application and break the context of their work. Actioneer provides a single point of entry, allowing users to simultaneously file information into their organizer's applications.

As an action note is entered, Actioneer interprets the text on-the-fly through a set of user definable keywords. By default, Actioneer recognizes basic time and date expressions — today, tomorrow, next week, Tuesday 4:00 p.m., etc. The entry is automatically linked to the Datebook, To-Do List or Memo Pad applications on the PalmPilot(tm) and Palm III(tm) connected organizers — or to a combination of the three. On the Palm Desktop, users can also simultaneously file information in the To Do List, Memo Pad and Date Book.

Actioneer is the first application to provide users the same data management capabilities for the Palm Desktop that they have with Actioneer for the Palm Computing Platform — already a popular download for users of PalmPilot and Palm III connected organizers and the IBM WorkPad(R) PC Companion.

In Actioneer for Microsoft Outlook 1.1, Actioneer automatically assigns keywords for all existing Outlook categories and contacts. Custom keywords help meet individual requirements. Enter "call Steve tomorrow regarding marketing plans" and Actioneer files that action item on the Outlook Calendar for the next day and associates it with Steve in the Contacts List. If the user had defined the words "call" or "marketing," the information would also be filed into a Task List entitled Phone Calls or Marketing. Outlook users can easily send a meeting or task request, or even add a contact — all through the Actioneer interface.

An innovative new e-mail processing feature in Actioneer for Outlook 1.1 incorporates Actioneer's keyword-driven parsing to prompt users with suggestions for storing the information in Outlook folders. With Actioneer, users can avoid using their e-mail inbox as a "to-do" list, full of a constantly growing list of read, but unattended to, messages.

Actioneer's e-mail processing is an attractive alternative to e-mail filters, which arbitrarily define where e-mail is stored, or even if it is kept at all. Filter systems may tend to "take over," eliminating or de-prioritizing messages based on an original set of user instructions, which may change over time.

Actioneer for Outlook 1.1 supports both Outlook 97 and the Corporate/Workgroup version of Outlook 98, and will be available at a special introductory price of $ 29.95. Actioneer for Palm Desktop is priced at $ 39.95; both products will be available in mid-July from the Web site, http://www.actioneer.com. Actioneer for Palm Computing Platform 1.1, a $ 19.95 value, is now available to download free of charge for a limited time, also from the Actioneer Web site.

During PC Expo, booth visitors will receive a ticket for a free download of Actioneer for Microsoft Outlook 1.0, as well as Version 1.1 free of charge upon its availability. Visitors of Actioneer Inc. in the Palm Developers Pavilion bringing their PalmPilot and Palm III connected organizers can directly download Actioneer for the Palm Computing Platform 1.1 through a one-way HotSync(R).

Actioneer, Inc. is focused on providing software-based solutions for 2P growing problem of interaction overload — too many interruptions, messages and e-mails. The company has been chosen for the Computerworld 100 Hot Emerging Companies List and also for Upside's Howard Anderson's Up-and-Coming Companies List. The company was founded in 1994 and is located in San Francisco.
