Power Computing and Metrowerks announce CodeStation-PowerPC/Mac OS Programmer Workstation
AUSTIN, Texas — May 9, 1995 — In a move to establish the PowerPC/MacOS platform as the development environment of choice for programmers worldwide, Power Computing Corporation and Metrowerks (ME, VSE: MWK) announced today the new Power Computing CodeStation.
CodeStation will be based on Power Computing's popular new Power Series of PowerPC/MacOS personal computers (announced April 17, 1995) and Metrowerks' award-winning CodeWarrior software development tools.
CodeStation, which is expected to ship in the fall, is a powerful workstation specifically configured to provide programmers an integrated hardware/software solution for developing state-of-the-art software.
CodeStation features the fastest PowerPC microprocessors and CodeWarrior software running in PowerPC native mode. CodeWarrior running on CodeStation will build applications targeted for: (i) the Macintosh OS running on 680×0 and PowerPC-based computers; (ii) the Windows 95/NT operating systems running on x86-based computers; and (iii) the Magic Cap operating system running on personal communicators.
CodeStation development systems will be built by Power Computing and sold by Metrowerks to software developers at special developer prices.
"More than ever, programmers need workstation performance and fast compilers," said Metrowerks President and CEO Greg Galanos. "CodeWarrior running on Power Computing's CodeStation will position the PowerPC/MacOS platform as the best option for programmers regardless of what hardware they target."
"CodeStation will provide a great solution for programmers working on multi-platform development," said Power Computing Corporation President and CEO Stephen Kahng. "Power Computing's strategic alliance with Metrowerks will offer software developers one-stop shopping for the best price/performance hardware/software systems designed for today's programmer."
