PALO ALTO, Calif. — May 4, 1992 — Three veteran public relations professionals — Nancy Blake, Elaine Knechtel and Carol Moran — have formed Eastwick Communications.

Based in Palo Alto, the company was founded to provide companies in emerging markets with the appropriate balance of corporate positioning strategy and creative implementation. Through previous agency and corporate positions, Eastwick Communications' principals have represented leading companies in the personal computer, software, distribution, consumer and services sectors, and have been instrumental in introducing products and creating corporate images for over 50 organizations.

Eastwick Communications already represents a number of notable companies, including Metaphor Computer Systems, PenMagic! Software, Serius Corp., and divisions of Apple Computer and Intel Corp.

The founders of Eastwick Communications have over 30 years of combined experience in the communications field. The company's service offerings include market category creation and message development, perception surveys, press and analyst relations, employee communications, investor relations, presentation development, media and speaker training, press materials, product introductions and article campaigns.

Eastwick Communications' approach is to develop the right blend of strategic and tactical programs to match the communications needs of high growth companies.

About the founders of Eastwick Communications

Nancy Blake, 31, was most recently public relations manager for Software Publishing Corp., where she was responsible for corporate, international and investor relations programs.

Prior to SPC, she spent five years at Regis McKenna Inc., where as account supervisor, she launched Claris and Radius Inc., and directed various communication efforts for Lotus Development Corp., Broderbund Software and the Corporation for Open Systems.

Previously, Blake was vice president of sales at DSH Inc., where she established nine computer retail stores nationwide. She began her career as a marketing representative for Xerox Corp. Blake has a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Stanford University.

Elaine Knechtel, 32, previously established a marketing communications consulting practice, Allegro Associates, working with such companies as Apple Computer, Sun Microsystems and Calera Recognition Systems. Prior to Allegro, Knechtel spent five years at Regis McKenna Inc., managing public relations efforts for Apple's education marketing group, Unisys and Plus Development and financial communication programs for Novell and Computerland.

Before RMI, she developed programs for Online Microcenters, a chain of 32 retail computer stores. Knechtel began her career as an account executive with the Orsborn Group. She has a bachelor of arts degree in industrial/organizational psychology from the University of California, Berkeley.

Carol Moran, 32, most recently launched and directed the communications effort for Patriot Partners, the development partnership between IBM Corp. and Metaphor Computer Systems. This partnership was combined with Apple's Pink Group to form Taligent upon IBM's acquisition of Metaphor.

As director of Corporate Communications for Metaphor, Moran also managed all of the company's corporate, product and investor relations programs and its national user group activities.

Previously, she was an account manager at Regis McKenna Inc., working with General Computer Corp., Hayes Microcomputer Products and Keyword Office Technologies. Prior to RMI, she was a publications editor at Atari Inc. Moran has a bachelor of arts degree in public relations from San Jose State University.
