Sony New Technologies Unveils “MAGIC BAG” Game Pack for Personal Communicators
NEW YORK — August 1, 1995 — Adding a wide range of entertainment options to the already popular uses of personal communicators, Sony New Technologies has unveiled MAGIC BAG(TM) Game Pack, a low-cost collection of fun software.
Developed by Sony New Technologies' General Magic Development Team, MAGIC BAG Game Pack contains the most popular Magic Cap(TM)-based games including:
– Gammon – Classic backgammon. Players try to beat the personal communicator's strategy – a great way to learn or improve your backgammon skills.
– Match-It – Touch any tile to reveal a graphic and then find its mate elsewhere on the board. See it, remember it, match it. The fewer tries, the lower your score.
– Snail – You're challenged to find the pesky mollusks without squashing them underfoot. Tap a tile to reveal what's underneath. If it's a snail, the game's over.
– Reversi – Place game pieces on a gridded board in this classic game of strategy. With each move, the player attempts to convert as many of the communicator's pieces as possible.
– SubShop – Race to take bites out of the submarine sandwiches (and a pickle) strategically hidden on the game boards. Polish off the opponent's lunch first and become a hero. It's a tongue-in-cheek twist on classic submarine games.
– Tangrams – Recreate one of fifty sample silhouettes using simple shapes. Drag shapes to the board, tap to rotate them and receive a hint by holding down the option key while tapping a shape.
"With MAGIC BAG, we have brought together a group of games designed to provide busy professionals with some light relief," stated John Kelly, Director of Software Development for Sony New Technologies. "Consisting of a variety of new and classic games that range from simple to complex, and priced attractively, we are convinced that MAGIC BAG will prove tremendously popular with the growing numbers of personal communicator users."
MAGIC BAG Game Pack, which requires Magic Xchange(TM) by Intellilink for downloading into the personal communicator, also includes the following extra features:
– Four of the best freeware Magic Cap games
– Lankmar Stomps(TM) (a "stamp" collection for personalizing communication)
– A demo of the Berlitz Speaking Translator
– Programming examples
MAGIC BAG Game Pack has suggested retail price of $ 39.95 and is available immediately where Magic Cap communicators are sold or by calling 1-800-739-7337.
