GRiD to Distribute GRiDPAD Pen Computers Through Computer City Stores
FREMONT, Calif. — March 25, 1992 — GRiD Systems Corp. Wednesday announced that it has started selling its high-performance GRiDPADHD pen computer through Computer City superstores.
The announcement marks the first time GRiD has sold its pen computers in the mass merchandise computer market. GRiD will continue to sell its line of pen, laptop, notebook, desktop and multimedia computers through its direct sales force, value-added resellers, federal systems integrators and original equipment manufacturers.
GRiD products are currently being sold in Computer City stores in Seattle; Los Angeles; Austin, Texas; Detroit; Minneapolis; Buffalo, N.Y.; and Houston.
The MS-DOS-compatible GRiDPADHD, introduced in June 1991, has a 20MB hard disk drive and a transflective backlit display, making it the ideal pen computer for customers who collect large amounts of data in varying lighting conditions. It will come with GRiD's PenRight! software platform, a 20MB hard disk drive and 2MB RAM.
Betsy Reagan, GRiD's vice president of business development, said, ''For years, our corporate customers purchased GRiD products because of their high-performance, ruggedness and GRiD's unmatched level of service and support. Now, we're taking the same products that built our reputation with Fortune 500 companies to an increasingly sophisticated consumer marketplace.

Just because they're buying from a retail store and are not part of a major corporate customer doesn't mean they should not be able to buy industry-leading portable products.''
