Pen-Notebook Computing Mobilizes PC Forum Conference; Attendees Test Drive GRiD Convertibles

PHOENIX — February 22, 1993 — The 500-plus attendees at Monday's opening of the 1993 PC Forum will go "mobile" with a highly acclaimed pen-enabled notebook computer — the new GRiD Convertible PC.

The PC Forum, an annual gathering of computer industry leaders and visionaries, is sponsored by EDventure Holdings Inc.

The GRiD Convertible, an innovative pen-notebook computer introduced at Fall COMDEX 1992, is available for use by each Forum attendee. The Convertibles are configured with 4MB RAM, modem and software including Pen Essentials by Slate, PenRight!, a DOS-based pen software development tool, Excel 4.0, DOS 5.0, Windows for Pens 3.1 and Microsoft Word for Windows software.

Forum participants can use the Convertible throughout the conference in tablet mode and take notes with a pen during sessions, or use it as an advanced notebook computer with the pen serving as an intuitive, mouse-like pointing device.

GRiD President D. Bruce Walter said, "The annual PC Forum is a major industry event where futuristic discussions often lead to new products and computing trends. Those attending the Forum will have a chance to get acquainted with the GRiD Convertible, access its mobility and pen capabilities throughout the conference and understand the functionality it offers."

The GRiD Convertible also will be used to survey industry executives attending the Forum. GRiD Systems and Slate Corp., a leading pen software developer, will conduct the survey to capture views of the industry and the future of mobile computing.

GRiD Systems designs, markets and services laptop, notebook, pen and multimedia computers and pen-based software development tools. GRiD is located at 7 Village Circle, Westlake, Texas.
