GRiD Lowers Price on Convertible Notebook PC and Bundles Slate Corp. Pen Essentials
WESTLAKE, Texas — April 12, 1993 — GRiD Systems Corp. Monday announced new prices and the bundling of software from Slate Corp. with its award-winning GRiD Convertible pen-enabled notebook computer.
Slate's GRiD Convertible Pen Essentials applications software will be bundled with the GRiD Convertible for $2,499. This new pricing is effective immediately, will be good through May 31 and reflects the aggressive pricing program of GRiD Direct computers.
The GRiD Convertible at the new $2,499 price is configured with 2 megabytes (MB) of RAM, math coprocessor, and a 125 MB hard disk drive, and is shipped with MS-DOS 6.0, Windows 3.1, and Pen Essentials software, plus a version of PenCel, a spreadsheet uniquely designed for the pen and compatible with common desktop spreadsheets.
The GRiD Pen Essentials software includes four pencentric applications, and equips the user with tools for mobile fax/send and receive, contact management, scheduling and organizing, personal information management, business reference information, document notation, hand-drawn graphics and note-taking in a pencentric format designed to be intuitive and easy to use. Sold separately, Pen Essentials is available for a suggested list price of $349.

Prices for other configuration options include a 2400 baud fax modem, for $200; a V.32 fax modem, $546; 2MB of additional RAM, $100; and 6MB of additional RAM, $300.
The GRiD Convertible is available through the GRiD Direct toll free number at 800-934-GRiD (4743), directly to corporate and government customers through GRiD Direct on-site account managers, or through GRiD Direct On-Line Express, a 24-hour electronic, on-site, product order access service for customers. The Convertible also is available through major distributors worldwide.
