GDT Offers Motorola Envoy Users Access to Over 900 Printers
BURNABY, British Columbia — March 7, 1994 — GDT Softworks continues to grow its family of products by announcing the development of Magic Print.
Scheduled to ship by the end of the second quarter, Magic Print will provide Motorola Envoy users with access to virtually any PC compatible printer.
"Magic Cap is an innovative new platform for personal wireless communicators," said Jim McIntosh, president of GDT. "Magic Print will provide Envoy users with a fundamental operation: the ability to print anytime, anywhere, on just about any printer. This means true multiplatform printing connectivity and greater convenience."
According to McIntosh, the company's decision to develop a printer driver solution specifically for Envoy is due to General Magic's innovations in the growing PDA market. Especially significant are the user-friendly interface and the extensive communication and organization capabilities of Magic Cap.
Magic Print allows Magic Cap devices to use over 900 dot matrix, inkjet and laser printers from manufacturers such as Canon, Citizen, Epson, Hewlett-Packard, IBM/Lexmark, Okidata, Panasonic and Star Micronics among others. Magic Print is designed with a simple, easy-to-use interface in a convenient form factor — a lightweight "smart" cable.
GDT Softworks is the leader in PDA and Macintosh printer driver solutions. GDT's retail products include the best-selling PowerPrint family which enables stand-alone or networked Macintoshes to use over 1,000 PC-compatible printers.
