ARDIS and Radiomail Team Up on Motorola’s Envoy Communicator

LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill. — March 8, 1994 — ARDIS, the nation's leading wireless packet data network and RadioMail, providers of an advanced two-way communications package, both took part in the launch March 7 of the Motorola Envoy(R), a new personal communication device with wireless data communication capabilities. ARDIS is the first wireless network on which the RadioMail product will be available on the Envoy.

The RadioMail service offers two way wireless and wireline messaging capabilities, faxing, and gateway communication access to any users of the Internet. These capabilities, combined with the portability of the Envoy and the broad coverage of the ARDIS network, will open new communication doors for the mobile professional.

"ARDIS is proud to be the first wireless network for RadioMail on the Envoy. These are ground-breaking products in the two way wireless data communication arena, and will open up this market to a substantial number of new users who will benefit greatly from the advantages two way wireless communications offers," said Frank Wapole, president and chief executive officer of ARDIS.

ARDIS is the nation's first and largest wireless data communications network, providing radio communications in over 400 metropolitan areas which enable mobile professionals to be covered virtually everywhere they go. The ARDIS network covers more than 90 percent of the business activity in the United States, and is known for its reliability in all types of locations: on-the-street, in-vehicles and deep inside buildings. The ARDIS network has more current users than the rest of the world's packet data networks combined.

RadioMail Corp. operates a wireless two-way public gateway that provides messages and information to intelligent portable computing devices equipped with radio modems; messages also can be sent to pagers and fax machines. Subscribers are assigned a Radio Mailbox(TM) in RadioMail's computer center, enabling them to send and receive messages wirelessly. Subscribers can communicate with users of a wide range of public and private networks, including corporate mail systems such as Lotus cc:Mail, public access systems such as MCI Mail, ATT Mail, America Online, Prodigy and CompuServe; and the worldwide Internet.
