Paragraph International Announces Home Space Builder; An Easy to Use Vrml Authoring Tool for Windows

CAMPBELL, Calif. — July 31, 1995 — ParaGraph International today announced the availability of Home Space Builder(TM) 1.0 (Beta 2), a powerful 3D authoring tool that will accelerate the World Wide Web's evolution from 2D home pages into a virtual reality universe. The easy to use program enables anyone with a standard personal computer to build a multimedia 3D site, or "home space." Home Space Builder allows millions of Internet users to build virtual towns, stores, galleries and personal home spaces, which can be linked with any other Web site and viewed with any VRML browser. Home Space Builder for Windows 3.1, Windows NT, and Windows 95, is now available for $49.95 on ParaGraph International's World Wide Web site: (http://www.us.paragraph.com/WHATSNEW/homespce.htm).

Home Space Builder greatly simplifies the task of building 3D scenes for the World Wide Web. "Its fluid interface makes world creation a click and drag process," said Marc Pesce, VRML's leading evangelist. "Rich worlds, with colorful surfaces, texture maps, pictures and links are all no more than a few clicks away." Home Space Builder's availability allows millions of businesses and individuals to transform their Web sites into 3D interactive home spaces. "This could be the 'killer authoring app' for VRML, in that it could open up VRML authoring to the masses of non-programmers who 'populate' the Internet," said Jeff Sonstein, a network administrator.

Beneath the authoring tool's simplicity lies ParaGraph's proprietary 3D rendering technology and sophisticated multimedia authoring capabilities. ParaGraph's 3D rendering is considered to be one of the fastest available under Windows for standard personal computers, allowing designers to move and build quickly and naturally. Multimedia features include integrated text, pictures, sound, movies, MIDI music, and walking shows. Additionally the designer can link objects within the home space to other Internet sites, creating a unified, three dimensional Internet universe.

"Home Space Builder for VRML is a very important step in ParaGraph's long-term project called AlterEgo," said Stepan Pachikov, President/CEO of ParaGraph International. "AlterEgo is our plan to build a virtual time machine on the Internet. Worlds will be completely immersive, allowing people to live at any time in history. They will experience culture, art, and civilizations firsthand, and learn something about themselves and the world we live in."

Home Space Builder is available now on ParaGraph International's Web site. Anyone with a forms-compatible browser can either download the Beta 1 version of Home Space Builder for free, or can purchase the Beta 2 version of Home Space Builder with expanded features for $49.95.

ParaGraph International's mission is to identify innovative software technologies throughout Russia, incubate them in Moscow, and market them worldwide. During the early days of Perestroika, an entrepreneurial group of Russia's top scientists came together with the goal of building a technological and cultural bridge between Russia and the West. This eventually led to the founding of a US company, ParaGraph International, in 1991. In addition to 3D technology, ParaGraph has also developed the world's leading cursive handwriting recognition technology and is a leader in voice/data compression technologies.
