Texas Instruments Announces Application Program Interface (API) Software for Avigo Downloadable Free from the Avigo Website!
DALLAS — February 26, 1998 — Since its introduction in September 1997, the ultra sleek, high-performance Avigo intelligent organizer has made a name for itself by providing state-of-the-art connectivity with the PC. Today, Texas Instruments announced the availability of API (Application Program Interface) software to extend Avigo's connectivity even further.
The Avigo API was designed specifically to provide forward-thinking software developers, designers and programmers the ability to write PC applications that move a wide range of information effortlessly from the Avigo to the PC and back again. The API includes a library of functions, routines, documentation and programming examples that make PC communication with Avigo simple and straightforward.
"The release of the API opens up the Avigo platform to a wide variety of unique applications," said Bob Pospick, product line manager, Texas Instruments. "Corporate applications, such as sharing inventory reports, product specifications, and sales reports with field personnel using Avigos can now be developed quickly and easily. The types of applications that can be developed are practically limitless."
Avigo's built-in software boasts an extremely flexible general purpose data function that can be easily configured to work with a wide variety of datatypes. Using the API, developers can configure and exchange data with any of the built-in Avigo functions. In fact, Texas Instruments is currently developing an application (using API) that translates Avigo expense information for use in Quicken(TM) financial tools from Intuit Corporation.
Those interested in the free API software can download it from www.ti.com/avigo at their convenience. The Avigo development team is committed to providing a high level of support for the organizer and can be reached by e-mail at [email protected] via the internet.
