Texas Instruments to Release Software Development Kit (SDK) for Award Winning Avigo

DALLAS — March 31, 1998 — Texas Instruments Incorporated (NYSE: TXN) today announced plans to release a Software Development Kit designed to compliment the power and versatility of its feature-rich, award-winning personal information management organizer, Avigo. TI teamed with Avocet Systems, a leading developer of quality embedded development tools, to create the SDK, which provides tools necessary for programmers to create custom applications that run on the Avigo, increasing both its flexibility and functionality.

"With the new SDK, a wide range of information can be managed on the Avigo and then shared or synchronized with the PC, and vice versa," said Bob Pospick, product line manager, Texas Instruments. "And the options to customize Avigo and enhance PC communications are extensive."

The new Avigo Software Development Kit comes with Avocet's Windows Integrated Development Environment+ with C compiler, a library of Avigo function calls, Avigo emulator with debugging capabilities, and complete documentation. And, the SDK can be used in conjunction with the previously released Avigo PC Application Program Interface (API) software, giving developers the ability to provide complete solutions to their customers.

"One of the most compelling possibilities is combining Avigo's existing data functions with software developed for a specific business or industry," said Pospick. "But the potential for developing applications using the SDK is virtually unlimited."

A limited number of beta versions of the SDK are available to qualified developers for testing. Those interested in the SDK beta test program should request more information via e-mail at [email protected], or check the web site at www.ti.com/avigo.
