Phoenix Technologies’ PICO Group Announces Phoenix PicoStor FLASH Software to Enhance Microsoft Windows CE
LAS VEGAS — November 18, 1996 — Phoenix Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: PTEC), the leading supplier of standards-based compatibility software for the PC industry, and its PICO Group, a leading supplier of software foundations for information appliance systems, announced today a new version of the popular Phoenix PicoStor software.
PicoStor now enhances Hand Held PCs that use the new Microsoft Windows CE operating system. Phoenix PicoStor/CE, designed specifically for Microsoft Windows CE, provides FTL (FLASH Translation Layer) algorithms to enable Windows CE-based systems to use FLASH cards or on-board FLASH disks.
This product is the first in a series of Windows CE-enhancing software foundations currently being rolled out to PICO's broad OEM community for the development of Hand Held as well as Industrial Information Appliances based on Microsoft's new operating system.

Phoenix PicoStor/CE is the latest addition to PICO's family of FLASH software foundations, which also enable RISC-based digital cameras and voice recorders, as well as a broad range of x86-based appliances.
