Xircom Announces Support for Microsoft Windows CE Platform
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — December 3, 1996 — Xircom Inc., the leader in connectivity solutions for mobile computing professionals, Tuesday announced support for the Microsoft Windows CE platform for desktop companion handheld PCs (HPCs).
The new platform recently attracted a flurry of attention at Fall Comdex in Las Vegas. Xircom's CreditCard Modem 28.8 and CreditCard Modem 33.6 PC Card products are now Windows CE compatible.

Microsoft Windows CE was designed to provide mobile computing professionals using the Windows interface an affordable, easy-to-use handheld PC companion when away from the office.
Modeled after Windows 95, the Windows CE familiar interface works with all Windows-based, personal information management and productivity applications users have become accustomed to. It also provides seamless synchronization with Windows-based desktops.
Casio Computer Ltd., Compaq Corp., Hewlett-Packard, NEC and Philips have all announced plans for developing and manufacturing handheld PCs which will also support the new Windows CE platform.
