FormLogic Selected by Microsoft for Survey Application; Windows CE Solution to be Demonstrated at Networld+InterOp

LAS VEGAS — May 7, 1997 — Wright Strategies, a leading provider of end-to-end business solutions utilizing handheld technology, Wednesday announced the development of a survey application requested by Microsoft for the Networld+InterOp show.

Using its application platform, FormLogic, Wright Strategies has developed a custom software application for Microsoft that will be used to collect survey information from attendees at 40 scheduled presentations in Microsoft's theater.

Presentation attendees will be asked to respond to a survey using Hewlett-Packard handheld PC devices (HPCs) placed on their chairs. Once completed, the data will be transmitted via packet radio supplied by Infowave Wireless Messaging Inc. to a FormLogic server located at the Wright Strategies headquarters in San Diego.

The data will be compiled and stored in an SQL database on a Windows NT server. Upon receiving survey input, the FormLogic server at Wright Strategies will randomly select three prize winners whose names will be returned to the Microsoft presenter's CE device before the presentation is completed.

''The Microsoft presentation at Networld+InterOp is an ideal venue for FormLogic,'' said Jay Wright, president of Wright Strategies. ''Attendees will get a first-hand look at the power and efficiency of an architecture designed specifically for mobile workers requiring intermittent connections to enterprise systems for exchanging data.''

According to Jim Floyd, product manager, handheld PC, Consumer Appliance Group at Microsoft, the survey application is an opportunity to demonstrate the viability of a Windows CE Handheld PC as a true extension of an enterprise information system.

''With a CE Handheld PC, and the enabling technology provided by FormLogic, mobile workers can have instant access to mission-critical information wherever and whenever they need it,'' he said.

''For Networld, we required a solution that could integrate the transport and database we'd already selected, and could be developed and deployed in an extremely limited time frame,'' Floyd continued. ''With FormLogic, we had a working solution within a matter of days.''

Founded in 1994, Wright Strategies provides software and services to extend business processes with handheld computers. The company's application platform, FormLogic, enables corporate developers, ISVs and VARs to develop, deploy and manage mobile solutions for handheld computers including Newton MessagePad and Windows CE devices.

FormLogic is the only application development platform designed to meet the unique challenges of mobile workers using handheld computers. Hundreds of companies worldwide use FormLogic for applications such as field inspection and audits, field service, health care, retail detailing, route management and sales-force automation. Wright Strategies is based in San Diego and is privately held.
