Communication Intelligence Corporation Announces Windows CE Products for HP 300 Series Palmtop PCs
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. — August 13, 1997 — Communication Intelligence Corporation (Nasdaq: CICI)(CIC) today announced that their Windows(R) CE software would be included on Hewlett-Packard Company's CD-ROM featuring new software for HP 300 series palmtop PCs. The CD-ROM will feature CICs, Jot(TM) handwriting recognition software and QuickNotes(TM) mobile notepad along with other third party software for Windows(R) CE. The CDs will be included in the box with each product.
"HP set a new standard for handheld computing with the wide-screen HP 300 series palmtop PCs," said Dennis Hamann, worldwide marketing manager for HPs Asia Pacific PC Division. "Handwriting recognition has the potential to become a useful feature for mobile professionals whether it is used to take handwritten notes or to translate handwriting into type. CIC provides a mature solution data will enhance the usability of the HP 300 series palmtop PCs."
"We are excited to be part of HPs CD-ROM offering for their HP 300 series palmtop PCs," said Madeline Duva, Vice President, OEM Business Development at CIC." This gets us in front of the customer which is most likely to buy our Windows(R) CE products — one that already owns a palmtop PC. HP's customers will be able to view useful third party add-ons for purchase in their HP 300 series."
CIC's JOT(TM) and QuickNotes(TM) are designed to increase the ease-of-use and utility of H/PCs. JOT(TM) turns what you write into type — virtually in real-time. Its easy-to-use handwriting recognition system is designed for Windows(R) CE H/PCs, and is compatible with all CE applications. JOT(TM) has a patented user-interface and recognizes natural hand printed characters and supports Western European languages out-of-the box.
QuickNotes(TM) is an application which allows people to capture handwritten notes and drawings on their Windows(R) CE handheld computers. QuickNotes(TM) offers users a simple paper-like metaphor for creating and navigating through notes. Since the notes are stored in chronological order and time stamped, it is easy to sort notes and to find information. QuickNotes(TM) uses CIC's proprietary electronic ink compression technology which minimizes the amount of memory required by QuickNotes(TM) pages.
