MobileSoft Announces Tetris on Windows CE Platform for Handheld PCs
SUNNYVALE, Calif. — September 18, 1997 — MobileSoft today announced the launch of Tetris(TM) for Windows(R) CE available on-line only at http://www.mobilesoft.com .
The Windows CE version of Tetris for the handheld PC can be downloaded via the Internet using MobileSoft's electronic software distribution system (ESD).
With over 40 million games sold worldwide, Tetris is the most popular electronic game of all time. The game features small blocks called tetraminoes (four squares in seven different shapes) falling from the top of the screen to the bottom. Players rotate shapes as they fall, fitting them together across the bottom leaving no open spaces. Tetris for Windows CE offers the same simple, addictive gameplay as other Tetris classics, with a few new twists. Tetris for Windows CE features a new Level 10 that is achieved only by completing Level 9 with 10 accumulated lines of blocks. The player is then rewarded with specially designed 3-D background graphics, cool sound effects, and incremental score increases.
