CIC Introduces Secure Electronic Forms Solution for Lotus cc:Mail 6.0
ANAHEIM, Calif. — April 30, 1996 — Communication Intelligence Corp. (CIC) (OTC Bulletin Board:CICI) today announced Sign-it, an electronic forms solution based on Lotus cc:Mail 6.0.
Working with Lotus' cc:Mail development team, CIC has created an electronic forms solution which uses electronic signature capture and pen movement analysis to verify signatures and to enhance security.
Lotus cc:Mail, the world's leader in LAN-based e-mail, now has an installed base of more than 9 million users. cc:Mail 6.0 includes a new electronic forms capability which allows users to greatly leverage their LAN-based infrastructure not only for messaging but also for transporting and routing electronic forms.
Sign-it integrates electronic signature capture and verification within cc:Mail forms. With Sign-it, users approve and sign electronic forms not only by typing a password, but also by signing their name on an electronic pad. Sign-it includes CIC's SigCheck signature verification software which authenticates signatures based not on the image but rather on how the signature was written. SigCheck actually analyzes the movements of the pen to determine whether or not a signature is authentic by measuring and comparing pen speed, acceleration, and stroke sequences generated when one signs their name.
"We are very excited about the value that CIC has added to cc:Mail," said Don Bulens, vice president of Lotus' Worldwide Business Partners Program. "Allowing people to sign electronic forms in the same manner as paper forms, coupled with real-time computer verification of the signature's authenticity, establishes higher levels of security and reinforces individual accountability on electronic networks."
"This is a major step towards the paperless office," said L. Michael McFarland, CIC's president and COO. "Through this new product, a shrink wrapped solution of electronic forms, including signature-based security and transmission via cc:Mail, is now available to millions of computer users."
Sign-it for cc:Mail 6.0 will ship shortly after the release of cc:Mail 6.0. The product will be available direct from CIC and ordering information will be available in the cc:Mail package.
