REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. — September 30, 1997 — Communication Intelligence Corporation (CIC) (Nasdaq: CICI) today announced that CompUSA has ordered the company's new Handwriter(R) Mx(TM) and Fx(TM) pen input products. It is expected that CompUSA will stock the Handwriter Mx and Fx products nationwide in time for the Thanksgiving and Christmas retail selling periods.
The Handwriter Mx and Fx models are focused products with specific target markets and will replace the current Handwriter for Windows product. The Handwriter Mx features a smaller tablet and will be targeted to the home, home office and children's markets. It is expected to have a suggested retail price of $179. The Handwriter Fx is a larger tablet with specific features for the professional graphics market and is expected to have a suggested retail price of $299.
Both new products incorporate new hardware features that have advances over the original Handwriter design. The new hardware advances include pens that no longer require batteries and tablets that do not require a separate AC power supply. The Manta has a suggested retail price of $259 and is also available from CompUSA nationwide.
"We are proud of our latest additions to the Handwriter product line and pleased that CompUSA is the first national retail chain to sell our entire Handwriter product line," said Bill Tauskey, vice president of Retail & Distribution Sales at CIC. "We are also marketing the line to other nationwide retail chains.
"With this product line, we are able to address the specific needs of critical market segments, from the general PC enthusiast, to the mobile professional, to the professional graphic artist."
