Itronix Corporation Licenses Communication Intelligence Corporation’s Handwriting Recognition Software
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. — November 20, 1997 — Communication Intelligence Corporation (CIC) (NASDAQ:CICI) announced today that Itronix Corporation is bundling CIC's Handwriter(R) Recognition System (HRS) with its X-C series compact field PCs.
Itronix joins the growing number of pen computer manufacturers who are including CIC's HRS with their pen-enabled Windows(R) products.
Larry Gildea, Director of Materials at Itronix commented, "Customer demand for accurate handwriting recognition motivated us to bundle CIC's recognition software. We incorporate as many ergonomic features as possible such that field workers can fully utilize our mobile, wireless systems — CIC's HRS is one of those features."
"Field personnel should appreciate the ruggedness of Itronix PCs — these are fully functional notebook computers which are complemented by the natural means of pen input. We are pleased that Itronix chose to standardize on CIC's handwriting recognition for these products," said Madeline Duva, Vice President, OEM Business Development at CIC.
Itronix introduced its award-winning X-C 6250, a rugged notebook computer, designed specifically for use by mobile users in 1997. As the latest product of the family, the X-C 6250 compact field Pentium PC comes with a magnesium case designed for long-life and Windows 95 operating system. It is available through Itronix' North American sales operations.
The Handwriter Recognition System delivers character recognition to its users with minimal training requirements. HRS also supports recognition of common editing marks or "gestures" for Windows 95. Additionally, CIC has included "The Handwriter Manager," a control panel that provides an animated gesture tutorial, a user-friendly training wizard, and allows for additional customization.
