Communication Intelligence Corporation Begins Shipment of New Sign-It for MS Word ’97

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. — July 9, 1998 — Communication Intelligence Corporation (CIC) announced today that it began shipping Sign-it(TM) for Microsoft Word '97.

Sign-it is an off-the-shelf document automation solution that enables electronic signature capture and binding within Word '97 documents. Sign-it for Word '97, priced at $ 69, is available for download via CIC's website at http://www.cic.com. A fifteen-day trial version of the software is also available. The Company intends to offer this product for purchase via the Internet only.

Sign-it for Microsoft Word '97 is compatible with Word 8.0 which is bundled with the standard Microsoft Office '97 package. This offering is a drop-in solution that enables a user to add their signature to a Word 8.0 document by using a pen-input device. To ensure the integrity of a document after the time of signing, the Sign-it product includes a document analyzer module.

The document analyzer tracks the signature history of the document recording the user name, time, date, and reason for each signing. If the contents of the document are altered after the document has been signed, the Sign-it document analyzer removes the signature from the document.

"We are pleased to announce the shipment of Sign-it, "said Russ Davis, Director, Product Management and Support. "Sign-it is our answer to numerous customer requests for an 'off-the-shelf' solution to capture signatures within Word '97 based forms.

"This product will enable companies to deploy electronic forms capable of signature capture without investing in costly application development or purchasing new application software. The ability to electronically capture a signature has been a missing link in document automation solutions that has prevented many organizations from going totally paperless until now."
