Wireless Telecom Inc. to Resell RadioMail Wireless Services
SAN MATEO, Calif. — February 8, 1994 — RadioMail Corporation, a leading provider of wireless two-way messaging and public gateway services for mobile computer users, has selected Wireless Telecom, Inc. (WTI), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Intelligent Electronics, Inc. (IE), as its master distributor.
"Our relationship with RadioMail confirms our commitment to provide our resellers with ubiquitous network access," said Jim Ciccarelli, president and CEO of Wireless Telecom. "We believe that WTI will bring RadioMail an expanded market as the number of resellers selling wireless data communications products and services grows."
WTI has established a specialized sales channel for wireless data communications products and services. The firm provides qualified resellers with single-source access to mobile computing and wireless data communications products, application software, carrier and gateway services, education and technical support.
RadioMail will provide products, service, support and training to WTI. WTI will recruit, train and certify resellers for their technical expertise in building and deploying solutions based on RadioMail's two-way messaging service.
"The agreement will give us accelerated access, in partnership with channel development experts, to large and capable computer resellers. This will dramatically expand the number of qualified sales people promoting RadioMail," said Geoffrey S. Goodfellow, RadioMail chairman and founder. "It's a milestone for end users who, at last, can turn to a single supplier for end-to-end wireless data solutions that are guaranteed to work."
Goodfellow said RadioMail will work with WTI to spur development of new vertical-market and customized applications based on the RadioMail application programming interface (RAPI). RAPI provides a catalyst for building wireless applications, significantly easing and shortening the developer's task.
"RadioMail's two-way wireless service provides access to messages and critical information at any time," Ciccarelli said. "With RadioMail, mobile executives and professionals can immediately make productive use of a wireless data communications system. VARs, for their part, can use RadioMail as the platform on which to build a broad range of data base inquiry, information delivery, dispatch and other wireless applications."
Products and vendors represented by WTI are:
– mobile computer devices from Compaq and H-P;
– wireless modems from Ericsson Mobile Communications and Compaq;
– wireless wide-area networking software from AirSoft;
– transport service from ARDIS and RAM;
– gateway services from RadioMail; and
– wireless POS terminals from U.S. Wireless Data.
WTI has been authorized to remarket IBM's family of Thinkpad products. In addition, WTI is in the process of completing an agreement with Apple. WTI also is in discussions with cellular service providers Ameritech, BellSouth (including paging subsidiary MobileComm) and NYNEX.
