RadioMail is First Wireless Messaging Product to Earn IBM “ThinkPad Proven” Emblem

SAN MATEO, Calif. — February 15, 1994 — RadioMail Remote for DOS, the first two-way wireless messaging solution to earn the IBM PC Direct ThinkPad Proven emblem, will be available as a complete wireless messaging package that can be ordered through IBM's PC Direct channel in March.

The RadioMail Remote for DOS package consists of a radio frequency (RF) modem with connector to the IBM ThinkPad family of portable computers, RadioMail remote client software and a user's manual. The software includes automatic sign-up for RadioMail's two-way wireless message delivery service that can connect to almost any wired or wireless e-mail address in the United States.

RadioMail's "anywhere and anytime" two-way messaging lets traveling professionals realize the full potential of their ThinkPad computers. In many cases, ThinkPad users with RadioMail can continue to be highly productive while away from the office. RadioMail service is among the first products selected for the ThinkPad Proven program following a rigorous quality and performance evaluation.

The RadioMail Remote for DOS package is currently ThinkPad Proven for the ThinkPad 350 and 500. Users can begin RadioMail service through the on-air sign-up feature by simply entering name, address and valid credit card number. They then send this information wirelessly to RadioMail for instant sign-on and service information.

The RadioMail Remote for DOS package includes the activation charge for RadioMail service, a choice of RF modem (Motorola InfoTAC or EricssonGE Mobidem) and carries a three-year warranty as well as free customer support through a 24first 45 days of service are free to RadioMail Remote for DOS customers.

RadioMail's gateway service uses the RAM Mobile Data and ARDIS RF networks, which cover thousands of cities nationwide. ThinkPad users can also access RadioMail NewsFactory, the first wireless service for on-demand delivery of news and financial information. Newsfactory is available to RadioMail service subscribers at no extra charge.

RadioMail Corporation operates a wireless two-way public gateway that provides messages and information to intelligent portable computing devices equipped with radio modems; messages also can be sent to pagers and fax machines.
