GeoWorks and Borland Announce Integration of Quattro Pro SE with Upgraded Geoworks Ensemble
BERKELEY, Calif. — October 10, 1991 — GeoWorks and Borland International Inc. today announced that Quattro(R) Pro SE will be integrated in GeoWorks Pro(tm), a significant upgrade of GeoWorks Ensemble(tm), GeoWorks' award-winning graphical environment and applications package. GeoWorks Pro adds Borland's Quattro Pro SE spreadsheet to Ensemble's GeoWrite(tm) word processing, GeoDraw(tm) object-oriented drawing tools, GeoComm(tm) communications, and the GeoManager(tm) file and personal information manager, at a suggested retail price of $199.99.
Using GeoWorks Pro's new Viewer, users remain inside the GeoWorks Pro environment while working with spreadsheet files and charts created with Quattro Pro SE. GeoWorks Pro users can then navigate, cut, copy and paste, or drag and drop any portion of a Quattro Pro spreadsheet or chart directly into GeoWrite or GeoDraw, where it can be scaled and edited for inclusion in reports or presentations. Its professional-quality graphics — includinrates other significant enhancements to GeoWorks Ensemble. These include support for Novell, LANtastic and other networks that allows users to print and share files over a LAN; support for MS-DOS 5.0 and integrated taskswitching support for DR DOS 6.0; a new intermediate level of GeoWorks' Scalable User Interface(tm) for simplified management of a user's documents; and accelerated printing on Hewlett-Packard LaserjetR and compatible printers that is 8-10 times faster than with previous versions of Ensemble.

"Both Borland and GeoWorks are technology-driven companies dedicated to building high-performance software products that provide all PC users state-of-the-art functionality," said Stephen Kahn, vice president and general manager of Borland's spreadsheet business unit. "The integration of Quattro Pro SE with GeoWorks' graphical environment and applications provides GeoWorks Pro users a technically-advanced integrated software package."
"Borland's Quattro Pro spreadsheet is the first of a number of mainstream applications, both DOS and PC/GEOS specific, that are slated to be closely integrated with GeoWorks' graphical environment," said Dougherty.
