ARDIS Receives Mobilis Reader’s Choice Award for Third Consecutive Year
LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill. — March 26, 1998 — ARDIS today announced that its nationwide wireless data network has received the Reader's Choice Award from mobilis magazine for the third consecutive year. The readers of mobilis, which include mobile computing developers and end-users, voted ARDIS the best nationwide wireless data network, leading a field that included all packet radio and digital networks. According to Mike McGee, ARDIS vice president of marketing and client services, "This award is a result of ARDIS' firm commitment to customer success. Many network operators promise the coverage and solution development capabilities that customers need, but ARDIS is the only company that consistently delivers results. Our top priority is making our customer solutions the most successful possible by leveraging our wireless expertise, nationwide coverage footprint and in building penetration. This is the reason why the nation's leading companies are deploying second and third generation applications on the ARDIS network.
"Receiving the Reader's Choice Award from the readers of mobilis for the third straight year is a strong vote of confidence for ARDIS, showing that our efforts and dedication are not going unnoticed by the active users of wireless data technology," said McGee.
While customer demand for wireless data solutions remains strong in vertical markets, ARDIS also has seen increased interest from mobile professionals. Of special note, two Windows CE-based hand-held PCs (H/PCs) that ship standard with ARDIS software received the Reader's Choice and Runner Up awards in the Windows CE H/PC category: the Philips Velo 1 and the HP 320LX.
"Solutions that leverage the familiar Windows environment provide wireless customers an efficient path to making mobile communications work for them," added McGee. "With its wireless Windows CE bundled solutions, ARDIS is addressing the portability, ease-of-use, and Internet messaging requirements of mobile users. In addition, we deliver extensive nationwide coverage, no roaming or long distance charges, one easy to understand bill and a single source for support — making these applications truly nationwide mobile solutions."
The survey was conducted on the mobilis' World Wide Web home page from November 1997 through February 1998. Readers were asked to vote for their favorite mobile computing and communications products, including favorite personal digital assistant (PDA), PDA software, handwriting recognition and wide-area and local-area wireless services. The results reflect end-users' perceptions about the state of the mobile and wireless industries. The results of the voting can be found at http://www.volksware.com/mobilis.
