Traveling Software Announces Agreement with NCR Corp. to Provide LapLink XL with the System 3125 Notepad

BOTHELL, Wash. — October 21, 1991 — Traveling Software announced Monday an agreement with NCR Corp. to bundle LapLink XL, a high-speed file transfer utility, with NCR's 3125 pen-based notepad system.

This version of LapLink XL is an OEM offering specifically designed to transfer files between a PC and notepad-style computers like the NCR 3125. It takes advantage of the pen through a specially designed pen bar. The pen bar, located at the top of the screen, displays functions including copy, move, synchronize, delete, rename and view. Files can be transferred via serial or parallel ports and transfer speeds of over three megabytes per minute can be achieved. LapLink XL can also install itself onto a connected PC for greater ease of use.

LapLink XL works in concert with PenOS from NCR which will be bundled with the NCR 3125. PenOS is a pen-based operating environment which works with DOS applications that are fully mouse aware to provide pen capabilities.

The NCR 3125 will begin shipping worldwide with LapLink XL in October. LapLink XL is a program licensed to OEMs, and is not sold as a stand-alone product.
