Slate Supports Pen-Windows; Partnership with Traveling Software

The partnership with Traveling Software should lead to connectivity products.

It comes as no surprise, but Slate has made it official — the company’s PenApps application development tool for creating pencentric programs now supports Microsoft’s Pen Windows. Up until now, PenApps would only create applications running under Go’s PenPoint operating system.

A Single App For Both Worlds

More importantly, however, Slate chairman Vern Raburn told us that the company is working on technology that would enable developers to develop a single application that could target either PenPoint or PenWindows. PenApps would generate an executable version for either operating environment as specified by the developer.

Slate Hooks Up With Traveling Software

At the same time, Slate has announced a strategic partnership with Traveling Software (the Bothell, WA, developer of LapLink, WinConnect, Battery Watch, and other programs) in which Slate will develop and market products for PenPoint using Traveling Software’s proprietary technology.

Although specific products are still being kept under wraps, we can assume that file transfer technology and products are involved, especially considering Traveling Software’s background in portable-to-desktop connectivity.
