Pen-Based Computing on the Web

Pen-Based Computing is more than a monthly newsletter—it’s a complete online resource for mobile computing information. In addition to having a site on the Web containing information about the newsletter, Pen-Based Computing co-resides with two exciting Web-based resources:

  • mobilis: the mobile computing lifestyle magazine. A monthly, consumer-oriented magazine available exclusively on the Web. mobilis features how-to tutorials and articles, consumer product reviews, shareware alerts, and the informative question and answer column: Ask Ms. PDA?!?.
  • Volksware’s Mobile Universe. A new and evolving collection of handy pointers to online mobile resources covering all aspects of mobile computing including PDAs, pen computers, keyboard-based handhelds, wireless communication, and PC Card-based peripherals.

To reach Pen-Based Computing on the Web, please use the following URL:

CompuServe

CompuServe has many resources that support pen-based computing. Among the most popular are the following online forums which support pen-based computers, PDAs and palmtops:

  • GO NEWTON (Newton users forum)
  • GO NEWTDEV (Newton developers forum)
  • GO PALMTOP (supports most palmtop computers and PDAs)
  • GO PENFORUM

The Pen Technology Forum is mostly developer oriented, but includes support for hardware, operating systems, and various pen-based software packages. You can find Pen-Based Computing in CompuServe’s Pen Technology Forum under the heading “Pen-Based Comp Jrl.”

Additional online areas will be added in the months ahead to support all aspects of portable and pen-based computing and wireless communications.

The primary managers for the above areas are:

Ron Luks 76703,254
Neil Shapiro 76703,401

For a free introductory CompuServe membership kit, which includes a $15 usage credit and one month’s free standard subscription (an $8.95 value) please call 1-800-524-3388 and ask for operator 307.
