CIC Ships Handwriter for Windows in the United States and Canada for $199

November 22, 1993 —  Communication Intelligence Corp. (CIC) (NASDAQ-NMS: CICI) announced today that its first consumer product for the Windows market — Handwriter(R) for Windows(TM) — is now shipping. The product, a desktop peripheral, includes CIC’s consumer proven Handwriter(R) Recognition System, dynamic signature verification Sentinel, Microsoft Windows for Pen Computing, a state-of-the-art electronic pen and an ultra-thin graphics tablet. Handwriter provides many benefits to desktop PC users such as lower learning costs, ultimate efficiency in editing, greater comfort and crea-tivity, and reduced risk for tendonitis and carpal tunnel syndrome.

“Initial response to the product has been outstanding,” said James Dao, CIC president and chief executive officer. “People are very excited about Handwriter because it provides a low cost entry into pen computing and it solves many problems for PC users. Handwriter for Windows is compatible with standard, off-the-shelf Windows applications including desktop publish-ing, word processing, spreadsheet and databases. Whether used as a stand-alone entry device or as a complement to the keyboard, Handwriter for Windows makes it much easier for the user to edit, annotate, point, select, drag, draw, navigate through menus and create customized gesture macros across these applications.
