CIC’s Pen Computing Technology Wins “Best of Show” at PenExpo

February 1, 1993 — Communication Intelligence Corp. (CIC) (NASDAQ:CICI) Monday announced that its multilingual Handwriter Recognition System and Handwriter Dynamic Signature Verification software won Pen Magazine Point Awards for Pen Computing at last week’s PenExpo in San Francisco.

CIC’s Handwriter Recognition System won “Best Handwriting Recognizer” over seven other competing recognizers in the category. CIC’s Handwriter Dynamic Signature Verification swept a field of five as “Best Pen Utility Application.”

The Point Awards reflect the votes of Pen Magazine subscribers and PenExpo attendees for “Best of Show” in 15 categories.

“A lot has happened in six months,” said John Wagoner, editor/publisher of Pen Magazine. “New pen computing hardware and software products have finally made their way to market and pen computing pilot programs are being rolled out. You can see the rejuvenated interest in the pen industry as real solutions are being offered.”

“CIC’s multilingual recognition support is critical to making this technology available and affordable worldwide. And CIC’s signature verification software will certainly play a key role in making pen computers useful and secure across industries in an increasingly competitive workplace.”

Co-sponsored by Boston University’s Corporate Education Center and Pen Magazine, PenExpo ’93 in San Francisco attracted 4,000 attendees — double the attendance of the first PenExpo held last June in Santa Clara.

CIC is a leading, worldwide supplier of pen computing products, including: multilingual (English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Japanese) Handwriter Recognition Systems and Handwriter Dynamic Signature Verification, with interfaces for Microsoft Windows for Pen Computing, GO’s PenPoint and CIC’s own PenDOS and PenMac pen operating environments.
