CIC and Infos Jointly Announce License Agreement for Pen-Based Software

January 13, 1992 — Communication Intelligence Corp. (NASDAQ:CICI) and Infos GmbH, a leading German computer systems integrator, Monday announced the signing of a license agreement for Info to use CIC’s Handwriter Multi-Lingual Recognition System, Multiple Operating Environment Interfaces, PenDOS Pen-Based Operating Environment and Handwriter On-Line Dynamic Signature Verification System in its 386SXL pen computer which will begin shipping next month.

This agreement allows thousands of existing standard ”mouse aware” DOS applications to be used immediately on Infos’ new Note Pad 386SXL computer. In addition, Infos can now deliver a powerful handwriting recognition solution to its customers.

”Infos’ entry into this market will bring pen-based computing to a wide variety of industrial, distribution and retail applications,” said James Dao, president and chief executive officer at CIC. ”Infos’ European marketing strength and more than 10 years’ experience in providing hand-held microcomputer solutions will quickly bring pen-based computer solutions to its prestigious European customer base.”

Reiner Heinrich, Infos sales and marketing director, said ”CIC’s multiple operating environment interfaces and multi-lingual Handwriter Recognition System and related software will allow our NotePad 386SXL computer to operate with CIC’s PenDOS, Microsoft Corporation’s Windows for Pen Computing and GO Corporation’s PenPoint. Our customers can immediately apply thousands of DOS applications already in use in the marketplace, as well as future applications being developed for PenDOS, Windows for Pen Computing and PenPoint.”

”CIC’s product strategy gives Infos two significant advantages: pen-based applications that are immediately deliverable and handwriting recognition technology that is consistent across operating systems boundaries. PenDOS enables us to start shipping our NotePad 386SXL computer as early as February, 1992,” Heinrich added.
