Compsoft Services Announces Pen-Based Communication Products and Services

April 16, 1992 — Compsoft Services Inc., announces the PenConnect Series of communication products for pen-based computers running GO Corporation’s PenPoint operating system, the first series of products to connect with a wide variety of sophisticated systems.

The PenConnect Series addresses the requirement of mobile pen computer users to communicate with their business information systems and instantly receive new forms, files and data necessary to keep them productive in the field as well as transmit the results of their work back to their main office.

Application developers, systems integrators and pen-based hardware manufacturers need the PenConnect function to provide their users with powerful and transparent communications to information systems provided by IBM, SUN, HP, DEC, and others.

The product family consists of:
– PenConnect/Host, which provides interactive and file transfer capability to all IBM mainframe host systems using 3270-based protocols;
– PenConnect/ASCII, which provides access to systems from IBM, SUN, HP, DEC and others which support industry standard ASCII terminals and file transfer protocols;
– PenConnect/APPC, which allows access to APPC (Advanced Program to Program Communications) applications in IBM’s AS/400, S/370 and S/390, RS/6000, PS/2 and other systems which support APPC.

“Our experience in developing complex communications software for the world’s largest hardware and software manufacturers has made it possible for us to create pen-based products with the powerful combination of superior capability, compact size and attractive price”, said Dr. Trilok Manocha, president and CEO of Compsoft Services. “We expect them to be a critical component of the software on every pen computer”.

Compsoft Services also announced today the availability of highly skilled, cost-effective programming development and consulting services for customizing the PenConnect products and for developing new PenPoint applications for their customers’ unique requirements.

Availability of products in the PenConnect Series begins in June, 1992.
