For many corporate developers, wireless data offers many enticing potential benefits. What is something less than enticing is the learning curve in implementing wireless systems integrated with the rest of the enterprise. Motorola, a leading supplier of wireless devices, communicators, and services, recently tackled precisely this problem by forming a new business unit of the Wireless Data Group to provide information and training for implementing wireless solutions in a corporate environment.

Dubbed the Motorola Wireless Data Training Program, the series of courses will be taught by professional instructors and is designed specifically for the needs of the corporate MIS community. The goal is to illustrate methods of implementing and supporting end-to-end wireless data solutions. The curriculum includes several courses that expose the following subjects:

  • Wireless wide-area packet data communication technologies and applications
  • Client devices for wireless data
  • Connectivity options and interfaces between wired local area networks (LANs) and wireless wide-area networks (WANs)
  • Application design and performance considerations when connecting LANs to wireless WANs
  • Middleware software and application development tools

The first courses will focus on AirMobile Wireless Software for cc:Mail, providing client and server configuration for a end-to-end wireless data solution. The courses are available through Motorola Authorized Wireless Data Training Centers. For specific course information, please visit Motorola’s web site.
