Finding information on the Internet and World Wide Web is no simple task. In the case of mobile computing, some of the best sources of information tend to be organized in a rather ad-hoc fashion, may move around from time to time, and often receive updates according to no humanly discernible schedule. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a single, comprehensive, well organized, and regularly maintained site that could serve as a launching point into this sea of information?
Well, there soon will be such a site, and its name is the Volksware Mobile Computing Resource Locator (MCRL). The MCRL, which will be freely accessible through the World Wide Web, will contain a comprehensive, yet easy-to-use list of every known non-commercial mobile computing resource available on the Internet. The service, which is co-sponsored by Pen-Based Computing and mobilis: the mobile computing lifestyle magazine, will be driven by reader contribution, site suggestion, and comments.
Here’s how you can participate. Visit the current skeleton, located at http://www.volksware.com/mcrl and use the online form to contribute your favorite mobile computing resource on the Internet. The regular service is scheduled to start in October, 1995. ❑
