CIC Receives Second Year Advanced Technology Program Grant
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. — April 13, 1992 — Communication Intelligence Corp. (CIC) (NASDAQ:CICI, VSE:CUA) Monday announced that it has signed a renewal for a cooperative agreement with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) under the Advanced Technology Program (ATP).
A year ago, CIC was one of only 11 U.S. corporations and industry consortia chosen from over 250 applicants for these prestigious NIST-ATP grants.
Other corporate recipients included AT&T, DuPont and McDonnell Douglas.
The ATP grants are designed to support research and development in technologies with significant commercial promise in key U.S. industries. CIC has been awarded the grant to conduct research on new user interfaces for computers based on on-line recognition of natural handwriting.
The total award for the two-year grant period, which commenced April 1991, is now $1,264,000 with approximately $750,000 available for the second year of the grant period.
The award is significant not only for the revenue it generates for the company, but also because it is another important and prestigious verification of the quality of CIC's technology and products.
