Fujitsu Announces Three Year Warranty Plan for Family of Pen Computers
SANTA CLARA, Calif. — January 31, 1994 — Establishing a new standard for mobile computing service and support, Fujitsu Personal Systems Inc., Monday announced a three year warranty and "No-Fault Display Guarantee" for its entire family of pen-based computers.
Beginning Jan. 31, 1994, Fujitsu will extend its existing warranty program from one to three years, on the company's 325Point, PoqetPad Plus and PadPlus RF mobile computers. At any time during the three year warranty period, Fujitsu will repair or replace defective parts to the customers' base system at no charge.
"The new warranty and service plan is what customers are demanding to support their mobile computing solutions," said Lou Panetta, executive vice president of Fujitsu Personal Systems. "Not only will our customers benefit from a lower cost of ownership, but decreased maintenance costs will greatly expand the rapid adoption of mobile computing solutions."
Fujitsu is also offering an unmatched warranty for its system displays. The No-Fault Display plan covers the LCD display and digitizer for damage of any type regardless of cause for up to three years.
"The most likely place of failure in any mobile computing device is the display. Offering a no-fault warranty on our displays allows us to maintain a competitive advantage while providing the lowest maintenance costs available anywhere," Panetta added. "And by lowering the cost of our devices, we are able to offer solutions which meet the demands of the entire mobile workforce."
The No Fault Display warranty is available for the Fujitsu 325Point, Fujitsu PoqetPad Plus and Fujitsu PadPlus RF pen-based computers, and is priced at $59.95 per year or $150 for three years. The No Fault Display Guarantee and three year warranty are currently for North America only.
