Fujitsu Personal Systems Inc. Launches Stylistic 500 Tablet PC With CIC’s New Handwriter Recognition System 5.0 for Windows 95
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. — January 22, 1996 — Communication Intelligence Corp. (CIC) (OTC Bulletin Board:CICI) announces the first OEM bundle for Handwriter Recognition System software 5.0 (HRS 5.0) for Windows 95 with Fujitsu Personal Systems Inc. (FPSI).
Compared to previous versions, HRS 5.0 recognizes more connective pairs, is faster, and has an advanced Handwriter Settings application. This application lets users customize the Handwriter Recognition System thus strengthening recognition of phone numbers, dates, and other information where numbers or characters and punctuation are mixed. HRS 5.0 was written specifically for use on the Windows 95 platform.
Fujitsu recently announced support for Windows 95 on their Stylistic 500, a 2.6 pound tablet computer. This computer was designed for mobile workers running high-end decision support applications in industries such as insurance, utilities, sales automation, and healthcare.
Lou Panetta, executive vice president of Fujitsu Personal Systems states, "At a time when our customers are demanding one-to-one compatibility between desktop applications running Windows 95 and the mobile environment, the Stylistic 500 enables our customer to standardize on a single user interface for all corporate computing platforms.
"These same mobile users need a handwriting recognition system that allows their on-the-road use to be as simple and reliable as their desktop computers. Fujitsu remains committed to CIC by bundling their superior recognition software for ease of use and dynamically superior performance on the road."
"As the market continues to grow, CIC is positioning its core handwriting recognition technology to become the industry standard. We are excited to team with FPSI, the first OEM to deliver a Windows 95 pen product," said Michael McFarland, president and chief operating officer of CIC.
