General Magic Inc. Announces Initial Public Offering of Common Stock
SUNNYVALE, Calif. — February 9, 1995 — General Magic Inc. (NASDAQ:GMGC) Thursday announced the initial public offering of 5,500,000 shares of its common stock.
Of the total, 4,125,000 shares were offered in the United States and 1,375,000 shares were offered outside the United States.
The initial public offering price was $14.00 per share. Goldman, Sachs & Co., Alex. Brown & Sons Inc. and Smith Barney Inc. managed the offering in the United States, and Goldman Sachs International, Alex. Brown & Sons International and Smith Barney Inc. managed the international offering.
General Magic was founded to develop object-oriented software platform technologies for a new generation of electronic devices, networks and services. The company has developed two platform technologies, Magic Cap and Telescript, which are intended to enable the development of communicating applications and services for the emerging electronic marketplace by independent software vendors, electronic merchants and publishers, and other third parties.
