General Magic Inc. Files for Initial Public Offering of Common Stock
SUNNYVALE, Calif. — January 13, 1995 — General Magic Inc. Friday announced the filing of a registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission relating to a proposed initial public offering of 4,000,000 shares of common stock.
Of the total, 3,000,000 shares will be offered in the United States and 1,000,000 shares will be offered outside the United States.
The initial public offering price is currently anticipated to be $13 per share. Goldman, Sachs & Co., Alex. Brown & Sons Inc. and Smith Barney Inc. are managing the offering in the United States, and Goldman, Sachs International, Alex. Brown & Sons International and Smith Barney Inc. are managing the international offering.
General Magic was founded to develop object-oriented software platform technologies for a new generation of electronic devices, networks and services. The company has developed two platform technologies, Magic Cap and Telescript, which are intended to enable the development of communicating applications and services for the emerging electronic marketplace by independent software vendors, electronic merchants and publishers, and other third parties.
