General Magic Signs up as America Online Developer; Magic Cap for Windows to Include AOL Connectivity
SUNNYVALE, Calif. — June 25, 1996 — General Magic, Inc. (Nasdaq: GMGC) today announced it has signed an agreement with America Online(C) (AOL) (Nasdaq: AMER), the world's leading commercial online services company. Using the America Online Software Developer's Kit (SDK), General Magic plans to integrate access to AOL into its upcoming commercial release of Magic Cap(R) for Windows(TM).
"We believe that support for leading online services, such as America Online, are critical for the success of Magic Cap in the Windows marketplace," said Steve Schramm, Vice President and General Manager of General Magic's Communication Products Division. "Using an existing America Online account, Magic Cap for Windows users will be able to easily add impact to their communications by sending and receiving multimedia messages."
Magic Cap for Windows is an integrated email, fax and personal organizer that is designed to enhance communications for small office/home office users. The product includes functionality found in the Magic Cap platform for personal communicators, with added features that make it an integrated communication center for Windows users.

General Magic expects to ship the first commercial release of Magic Cap for Windows in the second half of 1996. In the commercial release of Magic Cap for Windows, the company intends to incorporate direct support for popular online services, including America Online, and Internet service providers.
