General Magic to Host First Developers Conference; Reiterates its Commitment to Open Development Platform

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — August 14, 1995 — General Magic, Inc. (Nasdaq: GMGC) today announced that it plans to host its first developer conference October 29-31, 1995 at the Red Lion Hotel in San Jose, California. The first General Magic Developers Conference will provide existing and potential developers with an in-depth look at the Magic Cap(TM) and Telescript(TM) platforms and related market opportunities.

"We invested heavily in making Magic Cap and Telescript into developer platforms," said Marc Porat, chairman and chief executive officer of General Magic. "This conference is another stage in our ongoing commitment to open our development environment to the world of independent and corporate software developers."

The General Magic Developers Conference will begin the evening of Sunday, October 29th with a welcome dinner. On Monday, Marc Porat will kick off the conference in a general session. A special guest will provide the closing address on Tuesday afternoon. Following two full days of conference sessions, Tuesday evening will conclude with a not-to-be-missed Magic Halloween Spellbinding Dervish Bash.

"We see this conference as a great opportunity for developers to get together with their peers and industry experts to discuss development and market opportunities for a new generation of cutting-edge communication technologies," said David Levy, evangelism manager at General Magic. "Developers will also get a real 'under the hood' look at the architecture of both Magic Cap and Telescript."

Conference attendees can select from sessions organized into three tracks: Magic Cap Development, Telescript Development, and Market Opportunities. This allows them to focus on either a specific platform or explore more general business opportunities. Sessions range from introductions to the platforms to in-depth looks at class libraries of both Magic Cap and Telescript. Sessions will be led by the company's own Magicians, current developers, and representatives from several of General Magic's alliance partners. In addition to attending the conference, developers can participate in a variety of practical hands-on programming sessions.

The conference registration fee is $395; after October 13 the fee will be $495. The registration fee includes two full days of conference sessions, access to additional exhibits, all meals, and the latest programming information. Developers interested in registering or obtaining further information on the conference should call General Magic at 800 IN THE HAT (800-468-4342, ext. 4273).
