Globalware Computing Announces the Release of PylonPro Version 2.0

CHICAGO — June 17, 1999 — Globalware Computing today announced the release of PylonPro Version 2.0, the industry's only Palm Computing platform application that allows typical end users to automatically translate any Lotus Notes database design into a Palm(TM) organizer application; No MIS help needed. No Programming required!

PylonPro v2.0 features a number of important enhancements, most notably the addition of support for Lotus Notes & Domino Release 5.0, as well as full compatibility with the Palm IIIx(TM) and Palm V(TM) connected organizers from Palm Computing, Inc., a 3Com company, and the Symbol SPT 1500 product with an integrated bar code scanner. Version 2.0 also includes support for up to sixteen different Custom Notes applications (e.g., SFAs, Help Desk, Surveys, Inventory Tracking), and can now accommodate up to 128 fields per form, an amount four times greater than that supported by the previous version of the software. Additionally, PylonPro 2.0 includes a new look-up feature that enables one database to easily access data from any PylonPro database.

PylonPro v2.0 also includes PylonSelect, a valuable new feature that allows users to download or synchronize multiple Lotus Notes calendars. With PylonSelect, it's now simple to view group, personal and sales calendars on the Palm device, a user can easily select which calendar they wish to view on the fly. This feature is particularly important for managers or workgroups whose collective success typically requires close collaboration among group/team members. "The enhancements we've made in PylonPro 2.0 demonstrate our commitment to continually add value to the Pylon product family," said Gilad Ben-Yoseph, President of Globalware Computing. "PylonPro's unique ability to leverage off the existing Notes infrastructure provides users with the valuable ability to take Notes data on the road and still have 90 percent of the functionality of the desktop."

PylonPro captures the familiar look and feel of the Notes workspace while providing users with powerful features such as signature capture, on-the-fly column adjustment & field selection, and context sensitive help. With PylonPro, a single database could conceivably be deployed on Lotus Notes Palm Computing platform devices and even the Web.

"Connectivity to Lotus Notes and Domino is an important capability for many of our customers, especially in enterprise environments," said Gabriel Acosta-Lopez, director of platform development services for Palm Computing. "Globalware's PylonPro product delivers this functionality to our products seamlessly, making it easy for Palm Computing organizer users to access their important business information whenever they need it."

The versatile PylonPro also incorporates all the functionality of Pylon Conduit, the world's first Lotus Notes and Palm Computing platform conduit originally introduced by Globalware Computing during 1997. Pylon Conduit continues to be the conduit of choice for serious Lotus Notes users who wish to share corporate information with their handheld organizer. With Pylon Conduit, Notes users can quickly and easily synchronize the mail, multiple calendars, to-do-list, journal, multiple address books, web pages and discussion databases with a single Palm handheld device.

PylonPro also makes synchronization of data easier than ever. In particular, users have the choice of either synchronizing with Lotus Notes via their desktop, dialing directly into the server or from any TCP/IP connection. PylonPro seamlessly maintains the Notes security model across TCP/IP connections.

PylonPro Version 2.0 is available now at a price of $145 (US) per license. Volume discounts are available beginning at fifty licenses or more.
