Integra Technology Delivers Enhanced Mobility for Windows CE

LAS VEGAS — November 18, 1996 — Makes users of Windows CE accessible via phone, Internet, WEB and Microsoft Exchange Server Integra Technology today established a new position in the wide area mobile data market by announcing Integra MobileCHOICE(TM) and supporting gateway services for the Microsoft(R) Windows(R) CE platform.

Integra has traditionally been known for mobile client server software and solution services based on Microsoft Office and the Microsoft BackOffice(TM) family of products. The new Integra MobileCHOICE applications extend their wireless solutions to Windows CE and Microsoft Office 97 while their new gateway introduces wide area communication services as an additional component in Integra's packaged products.

Integra MobileCHOICE provides users with their choice of Microsoft operating platform and 1-way or 2-way wireless technology for access to business information, communications and the Internet. It is delivered as a bundled set of software, choice of wireless modem and supporting monthly services. For the user of Windows CE, this means wireless access to FAX, paging networks, the Internet and their existing email account via today's popular wireless networks.

From the outside world, the product makes the wireless user of Windows CE accessible via phone with interactive voice response and operator dispatch, and also via the Internet, Microsoft Outlook(TM) and Microsoft Exchange Server. The Integra MobileCHOICE user is identified to the outside world by a personal 800 number and Internet address.

Guaranteed delivery receipts, when using two-way wireless networks, are returned automatically to the sender's in-box and/or available via a toll-free number.

The software from Integra includes a Windows CE-based mail transport which provides the FAX, paging and wireless Email interface, supporting communication drivers and an exposed programming interface for developing business-specific, Windows CE-based solutions.

The Integra component for Microsoft Exchange Server runs as a service under Microsoft Windows NT(TM) and can be accessed through the Microsoft Exchange Administrator. Support for Microsoft Outlook is delivered in the form of a MAPI service provider.

"From our perspective, the Windows CE platform fills a gap in mobile computing offerings", said Mike Bernstein, CEO, Integra Technology. "Its availability has allowed us to deliver a mobile application suite, based on Microsoft platforms, that now stretches from Microsoft BackOffice servers, to laptops, to palmtops and to simple one-way pagers.

"Our users benefit from the common look-feel and cross-platform compatibility this provides. They can now pick the computing device and wide-area network that best suits their needs while maintaining the solution we provide."

"Integra MobileCHOICE and the Windows CE platform are complimentary technologies that provide added benefit to customers in the mobile-computing arena," said Jon Magill, director of marketing, consumer appliances group at Microsoft. "Integra's support for multiple wireless devices and networks, plus their integration with Microsoft Exchange Server, has helped make Windows CE a mobile enterprise companion."

For the corporate entity, Integra MobileCHOICE allows the rapid deployment of a mobile field force with a common feature set while enjoying the price/performance options of the various computing devices and wireless networks. By example, in a single enterprise, the field service team may be well equipped with "receive-only" information delivery on Windows CE while the Regional Sales Managers require full "send & receive" wireless capabilities using Microsoft Outlook.

Integra MobileCHOICE provides the same applications for this entire field force, allows the interchange of their devices and the transparent introduction of new networks as they come available. Lastly, Integra's 7×24 support staff handles the myriad of issues involved with wireless mobile computing and provides a valuable extension to an enterprise's internal support team.

The Integra MobileCHOICE software, when sold separately, is $ 49 per user and will be available in December of this year. Complete product bundles, including software, modem and monthly services are available from Integra Technology and authorized Integra resellers.
