Integra Technology to Support Microsoft Windows CE platform for Handheld PCs
TUCSON, Ariz. — September 16, 1996 — Integra Technology has maintained their long-term commitment to enhancing Microsoft(r) platforms with today's announced support for the Redmond company's new handheld operating system, Windows(r) CE.
Integra is known for their mobile client server software and services based on Microsoft Office(tm) and BackOffice(tm) family of products.
Integra's current development plans for the new platform focuses on its seamless, wireless integration with BackOffice-based technology, further extending Integra's existing mobile computing offerings. The matching applications Integra plans to deliver are expected to move wide-area mobile and wireless solutions beyond today's E-mail paradigm. Integra's products and services will be targeted at single user and enterprise-level implementations and add a new dimension of mobility to the new platform.
"From our view, this new device is the first to offer the combination of convenient size, a well known user interface and existing development tools," said Mike Bernstein, CEO, Integra Technology. "Our intent is to establish it as an enterprise companion via a new breed of applications and supporting services for mobile information access. Historically, in mobile computing, new technology was applied to old processes and received mediocre results. With the broad acceptance of this new platform and the growth of the various wide-area wireless networks, we can finally shift to introducing new paradigms in mobile computing."
"Having Integra's support for our Windows CE platform is a definite plus," said Jon Magill, director of marketing, Consumer Appliances Group, Microsoft Corp. "Their competence with mobile client/server solutions across our product lines will allow them to deliver valuable extensions for this new platform."
