Jupiter’s Consumer Information Appliance Conference Set For Nov. 28-29; At&T’s Gordon Bridge To Keynote
NEW YORK — October 28, 1994 — Jupiter Communications, the New York-based new media, research, publishing and consulting firm, will hold its fifth annual CONSUMER INFORMATION APPLIANCE conference at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on November 28-29. Gordon Bridge, president of AT&T Consumer Information Technologies, will keynote.
"Whether contrived or evolutionary, there's no denying the movement toward meshing the functionalities of the television, personal computer and telephone. Consumer Information Appliance V is designed to answer the hard questions about individual categories of devices," said Gene DeRose, president of Jupiter Communications.
Superhighway construction and content acquisition notwithstanding, the most elusive piece of the interactive puzzle remains getting intelligent, easy-to-use access devices into the homes, pockets and briefcases of consumers. As a result of the increasingly obvious need to deploy these devices and terminals, Jupiter's CONSUMER INFORMATION APPLIANCE conference has drawn dramatically higher attendee numbers since its inception in 1990. This year marks the fifth seminar devoted to strategies for consumer hardware deployment.
Speakers confirmed for CIA V include Brian Dougherty, president and chief executive of Geoworks, Mike Sheriden, president and chief executive of EON Corp, Fraser Bullock, president and chief executive of Visa Interactive, Adam Grosser, president of Catapult Entertainment, Larry Yokel, president of Convergence Industry Associates, Mark Plakias, president of Strategic Telemedia and Gene DeRose, president of Jupiter Communications.
Companies represented by speakers include Philips Home Services International, Microware Systems Corp., PrimeStar Partners Inc., StarSight Telecast Inc., Prodigy Services Company, FutureVision, US Order, Echelon, Casio, SkyTel, Apple Computer, Sony, and many others.
