Metrowerks Appoints New President of Japanese Business

AUSTIN, Texas — October 19, 2000 — Metrowerks today announced the appointment of Shoji Ueda as president of Metrowerks Japan Ltd., the Tokyo-based Japanese headquarters of Metrowerks Corp.

Mr. Ueda has been with Metrowerks Japan since its establishment in 1996, serving as director of research and development, and successfully increasing the popularity of Metrowerks' CodeWarrior(R) products in Japan.

"With the wealth of games, wireless and other consumer-oriented technology coming out of Japan, it is vital to our business that we maintain a strong, aggressive presence in that region of the world," said David Perkins, president and CEO, Metrowerks. "Shoji has the knowledge and experience to ensure that we win in those markets."

Metrowerks Japan develops, distributes and supports CodeWarrior products in such markets as desktop, embedded systems, games and PDAs, and serves as a strategy base in the Asia-Pacific region. Under the newly appointed president, Metrowerks Japan Ltd. will focus on expanding on its recent successes in the Japanese market.
