Metrowerks to Add Support for Windows CE to CodeWarrior for PowerPC Embedded Systems
AUSTIN, Texas — May 12, 1997 — Metrowerks Inc. (NASDAQ:MTWKF, TSE/ME:MWK), one of the world's leading providers of software development tools, Monday announced that the company has signed a development agreement with Motorola(R) by which Metrowerks will add support for the new Windows(R) CE operating system from Microsoft(R) to its previously announced software development suite, CodeWarrior(R) for PowerPC(TM) Embedded Systems.
CodeWarrior for PowerPC Embedded Systems is an Integrated Development Environment ("IDE") slated for release later this year that will include compilers and debugging support for Motorola's MPC8xx series of microprocessors. Metrowerks will provide support for the development of Windows CE applications running on the MPC821 embedded processor.
Additionally, CodeWarrior for PowerPC Embedded Systems will include Metrowerks' CodeWarrior x86 compiler technology, offering developers the opportunity to build and test WinCE executables on a Windows NT(TM) desktop. This provides a convenient simulation environment using an off-the-shelf Windows NT computer as well as advanced debugging capabilities for the MPC821 platform.

Pricing and Availability
CodeWarrior for PowerPC Embedded Systems is scheduled for release later this year for an SRP of US$ 699. Hosted on both Windows 95/NT and Mac(R) OS, CodeWarrior for PowerPC Embedded Systems will be available from Metrowerks and Metrowerks authorized distributors.
