Mobility Awards Winners Announced
CUPERTINO, Calif. — February 17, 1995 — Mobile Computing Insights Inc. today announced the winners of the Mobility Awards, the first awards devoted specifically to recognizing products and leaders in the mobile computing and data communications industries. The winners of the Mobility Awards were announced at a gala awards banquet on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 1995, at the Mobile Insights '95 conference held at Marriott's Camelback Inn in Scottsdale, Ariz. The conference, which began on Monday, Jan. 29, gave mobile computing and data communications professionals the opportunity to discuss critical trends and issues confronting their businesses.
"It was an honor for IBM to be recognized at the Mobile Insights conference and to win the Mobility Award for Product of the Year," said Jim Bartlett, worldwide product line executive at IBM Mobile Computing. "While it's true that the IBM ThinkPad has enjoyed significant market success, it was truly rewarding for our team to be recognized by the industry."
Selected by an external panel of industry analysts and members of the press, IBM's ThinkPad 755CD won Mobility Awards in the category of Best Multimedia Notebook, as well as in the category of overall Best Product of the Year.

Also presented for the first time at the Awards Banquet was the Mobility Award logo. All finalists and winners will be able to use it in their marketing and advertising materials. "The Mobility Award Logo provides finalists and winners with a way to broadcast their selection as a valuable product or service," said Dr. Purdy. "The companies will be encouraged to include the logo in their advertising and collateral materials."
The Mobility Awards ceremony took place at Mobile Insights '95 on Tuesday, Jan. 31 and began with a reception sponsored by Cirrus Logic and dinner sponsored by PC World magazine. At the awards ceremony, each winner was presented with a jade crystal trophy engraved with the name of the category and the winner.
Mobile Insights '95 received endorsements from many major industry participants in the mobile computing and data communications industries.
