Motorola Selects RadioMail Service; Wireless Modem Card Bundled with RadioMail Turns Notebook Computers into Personal Communicators
SAN MATEO, Calif. — July 18, 1995 — RadioMail's global wireless communication services, packaged with Motorola's new wireless modem card, the Personal Messenger(TM) 100D, delivers one of the most lightweight and easy to purchase wireless communication packages available today. RadioMail software is bundled and service is pre-activated on the ARDIS network, providing plug and play simplicity in purchasing wireless data communications capability.
RadioMail's feature-rich service enables mobile professionals to stay in touch when out of the office, putting critical communication tools — including global e-mail via the Internet, global faxing and more — at their fingertips.
The Motorola Personal Messenger 100D card is the most lightweight modem available to enable these services. The credit card style modem fits in the PCMCIA slot of many popular Windows notebook computers, or HP Palmtop PCs. The flip-up antenna and small battery housing are the only elements outside of the computing device.
"This complete solution makes it easy for mobile professionals to be in touch and act on information, no matter where they may be. It turns a laptop computer into a powerful global wireless communicator — a true portable office," said Bruce Walter, RadioMail president and CEO.
"RadioMail service, with its access to Internet and electronic mail services, is a full complement to the functionality and wireless capability of the Personal Messenger card," said Bob Molnar, vice president and general manager, Motorola Wireless Modem Division.
